Shravanabelagola: More than 70,000 flowers and 60 varieties of flowers, were displayed in the flower show by the horticulture department. The founder of the Sahitya Parishat, Krishnaraja Wodeyar’s statue was displayed in map of Karnataka, designed entirely of flowers.
A Mahanandi fabricated with roses, placed in front of a statue of Gomateshwara, made of vegetables and similarly made statues are also attracting huge crowds.
Pradeep, Senior Assistant Director of the horticulture department “As the 81st Kannada Sahitya Sammelan is dedicated to Nalwadi Krishnaraja wodeyar so we have placed the idol at the entrance and the photos of Presidents of 80 Sammelans’ held earlier, have also been displayed.”
“The response to the flower exhibition has crossed our expectations. We had a very short time for preparation and we did our best”, he added.
An artist, Shivalingappa Badiger of Dharwad, paid a tribute to the Sahitya Sammelan by drawing the 8 Gyanpeeth winners in sand.
