Driver, 2 children killed as lorry overturns near Chamarjanagar

Chamarajanagar: Three people including two children were killed when a speeding lorry overturned on National Highway 209 at Somwarpet on the outskirts of the city on April 14.

The ill-fated trio was having tender coconuts on the road side, when the mishap occurred.

The deceased have been identified as car driver Siddarama and children Lakshmikanth (14) and Sanketh Kumar (4), all residents of Kullurugi village in Indi taluk of Bijapur.

The occupants in the car were on their way back home after touring Tamil Nadu, when the mishap occurred.

The speeding lorry laden with maize lost control and overturned resulting in the death of the trio . The other three sitting inside the stationary car were injured grievously. They have been shifted to Chamarajanagar District Hospital for treatment.

A case stands registered at Chamrajanagar Traffic Police Station.
