Chamarajanagara: The Biligiriranga temple is a sacred ancient temple and a tourist spot in the Yalandur taluk of the district. Recently, crores of rupees were spent to repair and reconstruct the temple, however, it is now being alleged that the roof of the upper floor of the temple has sprung a leak.
After the district received its first rain, the devotees and general public noticed leakages in the roof of the temple after the extensive repairs and were outraged. After they approached the concerned authorities about the situation, the Tahasildar, Varsha visited the temple and spoke to the staff to verify the allegations of poor workmanship.
Speaking to reporters the Tahasildar said, “The roof over the upper floor of the temple was leaking even after the repair work was done. The concerned ASI engineer was consulted over phone regarding this and they have assured that the repair work will begin as early as possible.”
MLA N Mahesh said that the state tourism department had released Rs 2 crores for the repair of the temple. These funds would be used to construct staircases, laying of granite in the courtyard and other such work, the MLA assured.
