Chamarajanagar: After reports emerged of three masked men threatening a tribal woman, both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu police teams have intensified combing operations in the area to track them down.
Even earlier, there were reports of naxalite presence in these areas. Posters were put up with photographs of the suspected naxalites to create awareness among the public and tip-off police in the event of sighting them.
However, none surfaced during the last two years. In a sudden turn around, three masked men appeared in a village adjoining Tamil Nadu and threatened a tribal woman of dire consequences few days ago.
Senior officials led by District Superintendent of Police Prasanna Kumar, DySP Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) visited the area to collect information on the suspected naxals. They interacted with the tribal women and her landlord named Madesha to get a clear picture about the suspected naxalites.
Fear has gripped villages bordering Tamil Nadu after confirmed reports of naxal presence. Meanwhile, TN police have started combing operations in Gudalur near Ooty, Bokkapur near Masanagudi, Mavinahalla, Mudumalai and areas surrounding Moyar river.
