Chamarajanagar: A soldier hailing from Chamarajanagar district has won a boxing title at Los Angeles in US by beating his rival from Spain on August 13.
M. Shivashankarappa, a resident of Honnegowdanahalli in Hungala Hobli of Chamarajanagar district won the medal beating his rival in the title bout.
He is currently serving in Border Security Force (BSF) of Indian Army at New Delhi. Son of H V Mahadevappa and Malligamma, Shivashankarappa joined BSF in 2003 and underwent boxing training from 2004 to 2007 during the service period. Later, he won gold medals in All India Police Academy competitions during 2008-09 and continued his medal winning spree from 2010-15.
Friends and family members, delighted by his victory are sending congratulatory messages. Married to Sandhyarani, Shivashankarappa has a daughter named Lekhana, residing at Kuvempunagar in Mysuru city.
