Hanur: Astur villagers in Ponnachi Gram Panchayat limits removed the deposited silt in the village well on their own to extract water to feed the livestock in the area, severely affected by drought.
They decided to find a solution on their own when the elected representatives turned a blind eye to their plea. They accused former ZP member Eshwar of large scale fund misappropriation and the situation has not improved during the reign of current Cowdalli ZP member, they alleged.

Around 3000 people and 1000 livestock are deprived of basic amenities in the forest and adjoining areas on account of total neglect by the elected representatives and administration, they alleged. After all the options exhausted, they finally decided to remove the silt from the well on their own to provide water to livestock. At the same time, they considered themselves “unfortunate” to have faced the inhuman attitude from the officials concerned who always pretend to solve their problem but remained mute spectators without initiating any action in the end.
