Chamrajnagar: In a head on collision betwen a BMW and Maruti Swift near Garaganahalli on NH 267 in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district on Sunday, four persons including a woman were killed. Seven others,while all occupants of BMW car, suffered injuries.
A S Mudhol, 55, an assistant manager in a media firm in Shivamogga and a native of Gadag, his wife Sowbhagya, 50, son Sampathkumar, 30, and Manju, 26, are the dead. They were on their way to Ooty in the Maruti Swift car when the accident occurred.
The injured are recuperating at a private hospital in Mysuru. Airbags and seat belts helped the occupants of BMW car survive the collision, police said.
An onlooker said “The driver of the Swift car lost control of the vehicle trying to avoid hitting a woman crossing the road and rammed the BMW car coming in opposite direction.”
