Gundlupete: At least 31 persons were injured in a head-on collision between two buses belonging to the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) at Kaggala village near here on Thursday, August 16.
The bus travelling from Chamarajanagar had halted at the bus stop to alight passengers at Kaggala. Another bus moving towards Chamarajanagar rammed into the stationary bus. Eyewitnesses said that the bus driver, who was on the phone, lost control while trying to avoid hitting an elderly lady who was crossing the road.
Including drivers of the buses Shivaraju and Ravikumar, 31 people sustained injuries in the accident. Cops from the Therakanambi Police Station shifted the injured to the government hospital at Gundlupete. Seriously injured have been shifted to the K R Hospital in Mysuru for advanced medical care.
Additional SP Geeta Prasanna, Circle Inspector H N Balakrishna, and Manager of the KSRTC depot M G Jayakumar visited the victims at the hospital.
