Mangaluru: Yenepoya University Medical College Hospital, in association with Medical Social Work Department, organized International Women’s Day celebration at the college hall.
Dr. Sampathila Padmanabha, Professor and HOD Anaesthesia, Yenepoya University, inaugurated the event.
Chief Guest for the event Sr. Aileen Mathias, Chief Nursing Officer of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, spoke about the contribution of women in the development of various areas of the society. “Education not only plays an important role in the empowerment of women, but also helps women to be responsible citizens in the society,” said Sr. Aileen Mathias.
Post Graduate students of Social Work (MSW), Yenepoya University, performed a short play about women empowerment during the event.
Dr. Irene Vegas, Asst. Professor, Medical Social Work Department, arranged an interaction with the women who were present in the occassion. Quiz and various other fun filled activities were also arranged.
Dr. Mohammed Gutthigar, HOD, Medical Social Work Department, welcomed the gathering. Kavya, Post Graduate student, compered the programme, and Leeshma K A, proposed the vote of thanks.
