Mangaluru: The Yenepoya Medical College Hospital observed world Health Day by providing free check-ups and tests for the general public on April 7.
Several medical tests such as bone mineral density tests, body mass index, diet counselling and diabetic check-up were performed free of cost.
Dr. Shree Kumar Menon, Registrar, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), inaugurated the programme. Dr. Prabha Adhikari, Professor and HoD of General Medicine, advocated adopting healthy lifestyle and availing the treatment facilities which are provided by the central and state governments through many health schemes.
Dr. Moosabba M S, Additional Principal of Yenepoya Medical College, Professor Abdul Rahiman, former vice chancellor of Calicut and Kannur universities, Dr. Padmanabha Sampathila, HoD of Anesthesia and In-charge Medical Superintendent of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital and Dr. Sunita Saldanha, Hospital Operations Officer were present for the inauguration programme.
Dr. Mohammed Guthigar, HoD of MSW, delivered a note on the significance of World Health Day. Vijayananda Shetty, Marketing Executive proposed a vote of thanks.
The programme was coordinated by the Department of Marketing, MSW and hospital administration. About 250 persons availed the benefits from the free check-up programme. The departments of Nursing, Ortho, Dietary, Central Laboratory and Yenepoya Nursing College contributed to the success of the camp.
