Mangaluru: The Centre for Environmental Studies, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) observed World Earth Day by training students in vermicomposting, to reduce the menace of solid waste.
Awareness about the day was given by Dr. Bhagya B Sharma, Assistant Director, Centre for Environmental Studies, who spoke of the importance of protecting the natural resources and reducing the threat caused by solid waste which is polluting the earth.
An oath was administered by the students to conserve natural resources and protect the earth. Fifty five students of the Pharmacy College underwent hands-on experience in composting at the institute’s vermicompost unit. Prof. Md. Gulzar Ahmed, Dean of Pharmacy College chaired the event.
