Mangalore: It’s woman who shouldered the responsibility of ‘work for Home’ during the Covid pandemic, through which she exposed her potential of leadership, said Karnataka State Women’s University former vice-chancellor and Shikshan Mandal Nagpur Joint secretary Dr Meena R Chandawarkar.
Expressing her thoughts in a National-level webinar organised by Karnataka Rajya Mahavidyalaya Shikshak Sangh(R), Mangalore University Vibhag on the occasion of International women’s day celebrations held at University Evening College on Tuesday, she also expressed her joy over 2018- 2019 higher education enrolment data where for the first time boys and girls ratio was matching to 1.0.
Chief Guest, Sahitya academy New Delhi Advisory Member Dr Geetha R Shenoy emphasised the Role of women in higher education and illustrated different personalities who struggled for the education of women in India. She expressed concern over raising early age marriages due to economic constraint.
Presiding over the event, Government Arts College Bangalore Assistant Professor and KRMSS Mahila Pramukh Vanaja Sriram said that women empowerment is not the rivalry with men rather walk along with men.
University Evening College Principal Dr Subhashini Srivatsa read the prologue. MLC Arun Shapur, Syndicate Member of Mangalore University Ravichandra, Dr Gurunath Badiger were present. Convenor of the National Webinar and KRMSS Mangalore University Vibhag Treasurer Kavya P Hegde welcomed the gathering.
