Week-long Mangalore University Annual Special NSS Camp at Loretto school

Mangaluru: The Mangalore University Annual Special NSS Camp 2018-19 was held at Loretto Aided Higher Primary school, Lady of Loretto church, Bantwal. The camp was held from November 22 to 28.

The camp was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Elias D’souza, Parish Priest Lady of Loretto church, Bantwal.

He addressed the NSS Volunteers to work sincerely and take up the responsibility of developing our society.

Rev. Fr Francis Assisi Almeida, Advocate Bishops House Mangaluru said that being an NSS volunteer they should develop themselves by giving service to the society, and also should be a good citizen by imbibing good values and set an example for the rest.

Principal Rev. Fr. Micheal L Santhumayor, presided over the function and delivered his presidential remarks.

Prof.Lourdusamy, Academic advisor Milagres college, Mangaluru, Sr. Edoline Rodrigues, Headmistresses Loretto Aided Higher Primary school, Richard Menezes, Vice president of Lady of Loretto church, Irine D’souza, Amtady Gram Panchayat member Bantwal, Nikhil Martis, NSS programme officer, were present on the dais.

The routine of NSS camp began with flag hoisting by well known people associated with the camp locality, followed by breakfast. All the groups then dispersed themselves to the spot allotted to them clearing ceremony, up keeping church and school surroundings and plantation work of the camp spot by assisting the workers. On November 25, educational survey calculation of surrounding houses was done by NSS volunteers.

On November 26, volunteers removed the plastics and created awareness on cleanliness and hygiene. The guest lecture was arranged on personality development, legal awareness, the importance of first aid and organ donation. Practical session on fire and safety measures was conducted.

The volunteers in the evening planned the cultural activities and spend their leisure in sports activities. Later the groups presented a short cultural programme followed by day-long evaluation task, followed by dinner.

The valedictory function was held on November 28. Rev Fr. Jhonson Sequeira, Headmaster Loretto English medium high school, Rev Fr Valerian D’souza correspondent, Milagres Educational Institutions, Ronald D’souza, former president APMC Bantwal, Harish Shetty Padu, President Amtady gram panchayath Bantwal, Mohammad B, P.D.O Amtady gram panchayath Bantwal, Cicilia Pereira, Vice President Milagres Parish, Ivan Fernandes , Secretary Milagres Parish, LaveenaLoboo , PTA President Milagres college Mangaluru, were other dignitaries of the day.
