Vikas Pre-University College celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava

Mangaluru: Vikas Pre-University College, Mangaluru celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava on November 1 with great pomp.

Rohinaksha Shirlalu, lecturer in Kannada, Vivekananda College, Puttur was the chief guest of the function. In his inaugural address, he explained the historical importance of the day and stressed on the significance of preserving the mother tongue which he termed as the preserver of the culture. He motivated the students to enrich Kannada culture wherever they settled down in future. He pointed out the remarkable achievements of Kannada literature in bagging eight Jnanapeeta Awards.

Dr. D Shripathi Rao, Correspondent, Vikas Group of Institutions presided over the function. He also guided students to follow Kannada culture while reminding them not to hate other languages in love of one’s own language.

Competitions like Pick and Speak and Bhava Geethe were conducted.

Trustee J Koragappa, Parthasarathy Palemar, Coordinator, Vikas Group of Institutions, Administrator Vidya Kamath and Shobha P, HoD, Department of Kannada were present on the occasion.

Tushitha Arun, student of II PUC Science, compered the function. Annapoorna, student of I PUC Science welcomed the gathering and Pratham M, student of II PUC Science proposed a vote of thanks.
