Mangaluru: Vikaas Pre-University College, Mangaluru celebrated the 64th Kannada Rajyotsava on November 1 with great pomp.
Dr. Ismail N, retired principal, Badriya PU College, Mangaluru, was the chief guest.
Inaugurating the programme, he explained the historical importance of the day and stressed on the importance of preserving our mother tongue and culture. He motivated the students to respect all languages and cultures but not forget our own. He pointed out the remarkable achievement of Kannada literature in bagging Eight Jnanapeeta awards.
Trustee J Koragappa spoke about coastal culture and their contribution to Kannada literature and also mentioned that Manglureans are open hearted and accept all cultures easily but more importance has to be given to one’s own.
Dr. Suneel B M, principal, Vikaas Pre- University College, welcomed the gathering, Ajith Rai, Kannada lecturer compered the programme.
Suraj Kumar Kallya, trustee, Vikaas Education Trust, Parthasarathy Palemar, Coordinator, Vikaas Group of Institutions, Ayshwarya K, principal, Vikaas First Grade College and Shobha P, HOD, Department of Kannada were also present.
