Mangaluru: The Microbiology Department of the University College Mangalore, in association with NSS unit of the college organized an exhibition and sale of alternatives for single-use plastic and an awareness program at the college premises, recently.
Many eco-friendly products like seed pens, pencils, plantable pens, notebook from recycled paper, jute bags, pouches, handbags, containers, banana leaves, compartment shopping bags, areca nut plates, cups, tray, copper and steel water bottles were exhibited in the impressive effort.
In the exhibition which was inaugurated by the Principal Dr. Uday Kumar M A, JIIV Eco-friendly Products, Mysore, Siri Gramodhyog of Dharmasthala, Chethana School Mangalore, Harina Eco-friendly Cottage Industry Mangalore participated in the exhibition. Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya Entrepreneur Nandagopala Shenoy and others visited the stores and motivated.
As the Union Government has decided to ban the single-use plastic from October 2, the awareness program was organized as per the direction of the government. Program coordinator Dr. Bharathi Prakash, Prof. Sumangala C H, NSS officers Dr. Gayathri, Suresh were present on the occasion.
