Mangaluru: The Fine Arts Association of the University College Mangalore organized selection trials for talented students at the Ravindra Kalabhavana and Shivarama Karantha Sabhabhavana on Thursday.
As a part of the event, around 13 competitions including classical dance solo, eastern dance-solo, eastern dance-group, folk dance- group, skit, classical song- solo, eastern song- solo, eastern song- group, western song- solo, Yakshagana Bhagavatige- individual, Bhavageetha, folk and percussion and non-percussion instruments, were held. The selected students will represent the college in various competitions.
Earlier, in his inaugural address, Principal Dr. Udaya Kumar M A opined that the talent hunts in the college are not only a great forum to establish talent, but also to improve ourselves. Participating in various competitions and gaining experience itself is the most precious prize for the students, he said.
Political Science Department Head Dr. Latha Pandit explained the rules; Fine Arts Association Deputy Director Dr. Rajeshwari welcomed all. Student Union Deputy Director Dr. Harish A, Student Union President Sampath B, Secretary Mayur, Joint Secretary Varshitha Shetty, Fine Arts Association Secretary Abhishek Anchan and Joint Secretary Nisha Kumari were present.
