Two days PGCET Programme at Sahyadri

Mangaluru: A two-day PGCET Training Programme is organized by Department of Business Administration of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management in the campus on June 21 and 22 for the students aspiring to join MBA under the government quota in B Schools of Karnataka. Around 350 graduates participated in the two-day programme. Students from various places like Bengaluru, Thirthahalli, Shivamogga, Kasaragod, Kundapura, Udupi and Bhatkal participated in the programme besides the students of Mangaluru.

During the inaugural Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director Department of Business Administration welcomed the gathering and said that this “Community Initiative” of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management is conducted to create awareness about the government quota for the B schools and also to provide training to the graduates so that they could join their dream institute to pursue their MBA Degree. Prof. Sushma, the Chief Coordinator of the PGCET programme briefed the audience about the relevance of the programme. She introduced the In-house facilitators and External resource person to the audience. She appreciated the fact that in the past 4 consecutive years since the training has started, the response of the students is excellent and that from a small gathering of 75 students in 2014, today the programme reaches around 350 students. Dr. R Srinivas Rao Kunte, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management in his Presidential Address appreciated the students for the genuineness with which are preparing for the entrance exam. He wished the students the best for the exams and also told them to look into the “Option Entry” on the KEA website. He said the rank that they get in the exam is secondary but, the priority is to choose their “Dream college” to pursue their degree. Sangeetha, Final year MBA student was the Master of ceremony for the Inaugural session.

During the two days, sessions are conducted in four areas – Quantitative Analysis, Reasoning, General Knowledge and Proficiency in English Grammar. Participants shall be trained in the four subjects as per PGCETs requirement which is facilitated by the in-house faculty members viz. Dr. Vidyavathi K, Prof. Guru Prasad Rao, Prof. Mithun Ullal, Prof. Ankith Kumar and Prof. Samarth Shenoy. Besides, the external facilitators, Vivekanand Kamath, Director, V-Reach Coaching Academy, Udupi, Rahul and Gino, Insights Coimbotore shall train the students. The programme shall also include a mock test to give students a hands-on experience about modus operandi of the PGCET exam. The USP of the programme is the take away given as “PGCET practice book” which has been exclusively designed by the inhouse faculty members of the department under the leadership of Prof. Raghavendra Prabhu.
