The 19th VTU Inter-Collegiate Power Lifting competition concludes

Mangaluru: The 19^th edition of the VTU State level Inter Collegiate Power Lifting competition was organized by the Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru, on September 28 and 29.

The inauguration programme was held on September 28 in the Nethravathi Auditorium. Trustee, Bhandary Foundation, Devdas Hegde was the chief guest. He declared the 19th VTU Power Lifting competition open and inaugurated the event by unveiling the power lifting weights. Principal, Dr. R Srinivas Rao Kunte, rendered the Presidential address.

Later, various events kick-started.

The event became a witness to 16 new records being created. A total of 140 boys and 45 girls participated in the event.Students from various colleges across the state actively took part.

An MBA student from Sahyadri College, Shobith Rai, broke his own VTU powerlifting (squat) record of 212.5 kg, by lifting weights of 217.5 kg, in the VTU Inter-College Competition.

Chairperson, Bhandary Foundation, Manjunath Bhandary, was the chief guest of the valedictory ceremony. He gave away the prizes to the winners.

In the Girls Category, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management emerged as the Overall Champions. Global Academy of Technology (GAT), Bengaluru were declared as the overall runners-up and JNNCE, Shivmogga were bagged third in the overall.

In the Boys Section, the Overall Champions were NMAMIT, Nitte and overall runners-up were shared among JNNCE, Shivamogga, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management and St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru.
