Moodabidri: At the reception ceremony organised by the Karnataka State Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, students of Alva’s Education Foundation have been felicitated for their sports achievements at the national and international level, announced the president of Alva’s Institutions Dr. Mohan Alva.
Speaking to reporters at a press meet here, he said that two sports persons had received the Karnataka Ekalavya Award and three others Karnataka Kreeda Ratna Award.
Moreover, Alva’s Education Foundation has been conferred with “Kreeda Poshak” for its support and contributions toward encouraging sports since 1984, he added.
Harshith S holds the current national junior record in high jump and he has represented India at the World Junior Championships and Asian Junior Games in 2012. He has been bestowed with the Ekalavya Award.
Sukesh Hegde, who is an international Kabaddi athlete and an alumnus of Alva’s, has also been granted with the Ekalavya Award. He has been shining in the Pro Kabaddi League, Dr. Alva said.
He also said that K J Yashwini, Atmashree H S and Sugun Sagar Mallakhamba have been awarded Kreeda Ratna award.
