St. Aloysius PU College celebrates its 138th College Day Celebration

Mangaluru: St. Aloysius PU College celebrated its 138th College Day on December 16, musing on the theme “Road Less Travelled” in the College Pretorium. The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Justice N Santhosh Hedge, former Lokayuktha, and alumni of SAC, in his address, recollected his time at the St. Aloysius Institutions and encouraged the students to inculcate two important values in their lives-Contentment and Humanism-as education without values will make an individual inhumane. He congratulated the principal, staff and students of St. Aloysius PU College on their excellence in the field of academics and co-curricular activities.

Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz, Rector of the St. Aloysius Institutions presided over the function, and in his presidential address motivated students to be “Men and Women of Identity and Integrity by being Creative, Critical and Compassionate.” Principal Rev. Fr. Melwin Mendonca SJ presented the annual report through video highlighting the achievements and success of SAPUC during the academic year 2017-18. Gracing the dais were Finance Officer Rev. Fr. John Lang Bosco SJ, Vice Principal Charlotte D’Souza, PTA Vice President Lokanath G, Student Council Secretary Calvin Lobo and Joint Secretary Samyavi Rai.

The meritorious students and sports achievers were honoured with mementos and certificates.

Shruthi Lal, student convener of College Day, gave the welcome address and the Chief Guest for the day was introduced by the College Day Convener Bhavani M P. College President Sushan Attavar proposed a vote of thanks.

The formal function was followed by a cultural extravaganza that truly added more colour to the occasion and was a feast for the eyes to behold.
