St. Aloysius ITI celebrates Annual Day

Mangaluru: The staff and students at St. Aloysius Industrial Training Institute (ITI) celebrated the Annual Day with great fervour on May 18 at 5 PM at the St. Aloysius College Primary School auditorium.

The celebration began with the arrival of the dignitaries. Chief guests for the programme Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Tulu theatre artiste and film actor, Rajendra K P, entrepreneur and humanitarian, president of the programme Rev. Fr. Denzil William Lobo SJ, Secretary of Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society and other dignitaries were welcomed into the auditorium by the audience. Student Council President Thilak M extended a cordial welcome to the dignitaries and the gathering.

This was followed by the distribution of prizes to the winners of various competitions held during the academic year.

Addressing the gathering, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor narrated his story of success and said, “Do not underestimate any work. Have confidence in yourself and move forward in the field you love. You are lucky to have joined an institution which never discriminates on the basis of religion, caste, etc., and gives equal opportunities to all. Do well and be successful.”

Speaking on the occasion, Rajendra K P said, “Vision is very important to lead a successful life. Have a dream of your own. Once you have a dream, you will be able to set goals and achieve them. Make use of the opportunities life presents to you. You can even become entrepreneurs if you have a vision and zeal to achieve.”

Former director Rev. Fr. Leo D’Souza SJ said, “Never consider ITI education as low grade. Skill based education which you get from ITI, opens the door of opportunities and gives you earning power. Many students who have graduated from ITIs are better placed financially.”

In his Presidential Address, Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo congratulated the students and staff for putting up the programme and said, “India has achieved greater heights in many fields like technology, medicine, space research, etc. On the other hand, India is struggling with corruption, poverty, violence, terror, immorality, etc. We have got much from the society and we have a duty to give back. We should never compromise our moral principles for selfish motives. We should be the agents of peace, harmony and brotherhood.”

The other dignitaries on the dais were Rev. Fr. Eric Mathias SJ- Director of the institution, Vincent Mendonsa- Principal and Umesh J A, Convener of the programme.

Praveen D’Souza, a student of the Electrician Trade- 2nd year, proposed a vote of thanks. Garel D’Souza, a student of MMV trade, 1st year conducted the stage programme.
