Mangaluru: Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management will be organising the “Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt-SSTH 2017” on November 11 at the college campus here.
The programme is basically conducted for PU and high school students covering more than 70 colleges. The institutions with relatively moderate student strength will be clustered under a single zone. The SSTH funds projects in order to encourage and motivate the young minds.
Around 1200 students are expected to participate in the mega event that will give them a first-hand opportunity to interact with engineering students, faculty members besides witnessing a host of engineering projects. SSTH 2017 involves project competition, still model competition and quiz competition and final prizes include cash award, trophies and certificates.
The programme is being organised under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Manjunath Bhandary whose aim is to nurture the young brains through scientific innovations. Beyond the prize money, the intent is to provide a platform for exhibiting and sharing their ideas with their peers; allowing students to redefine the education process through experiential learning. These 1200 students are the crème de la crème of the 70 colleges having received guidance in the right perspective that facilitates devising an apt roadmap for their future. A panel discussion with experienced personnel from diverse fields of research, industry and education will share their perspective with the audience, said Dr. U M Bhushi, Principal of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management addressing a press meet here.
The eminent personalities of the panel discussion include: Prof. S N Omkar who is currently working as a Chief Research Scientist at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; Prof. Vijay H Desai, Senior Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, NITK, Surathkal and M V Subramanian, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Future Focus Infotech Pvt. Ltd. (FFI), a premier IT Staffing & Software Consulting Services Company.
The event focuses on improving the innovative ideas of the students and helps them to further progress in the same areas as professionals and students of all high school and pre-university college of the region are welcome to visit the SSTH 2017 Project Exhibition to be held on November 11 at Sahyadri campus between 10 AM and 1 AM. The panel discussion with eminent scientists and student interaction with the panel of scientists to seek the right direction in their career will happen from 2 PM to 4 PM.
