Mangaluru: The men’s and women’s wrestling and judo teams of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, participated in the VTU Single Zone Wrestling Championship held at SJCIT, Chikballapur, on September 6 and 7. They secured the third place.
The following were the achievements of the team:
• Thejas H from second year MCA secured the first place in the ‘below 61kg’ category of the Wrestling Championship
• Mohammed Ismail Jaseem from first year Mechanical Engineering secured the second place in the ‘below 57kg’ category of the Wrestling Championship
• Nibin Binu from third year Mechanical Engineering secured the third place in the ‘below 97kg’ category of the Wrestling Championship
• Muhammad Fayaz from fourth year Mechanical Engineering secured the third place in the ‘below 92kg’ category of the Wrestling Championship
• Sharul Jose from third year Civil Engineering secured the fourth place in the ‘below 70kg’ category of the Wrestling Championship
• Venilla Manikanta from third year Civil Engineering secured the first place in the ‘below 44kg’ category of the Judo Championship
