Mangaluru: The Nitte Technical College boys team and the Sahyadri College girls team won first place in the powerlifting competition held at Nitte, Mangaluru recently.
The contest was held as a part of an intercollegiate athletic meet organised by Visveswaraya Technical University (VTU).
In the boys’ category, the second place was awarded to Bengaluru’s New Horizon College and the Global Academy College secured the third place.
In the girls’ category, the second place was awarded to Shivamogga’s JNN Engineering College and BMS Engineering College secured the third place.
Aaron Joy from St Joseph’s Engineering College (Mangaluru) and Soundarya from JNN College (Shivamogga) earned the title of ‘Strongest Male’ and ‘Strongest Female’ respectively.
At the closing ceremony, Nitte Technical College Principal Dr. Niranjan Chiplunkar, Balanjanya Club’s Ekalavya awardee Satishkumar Kudroli, Barke Vasant Kumar, and Global College’s Sharavanan distributed the prizes.
