Milagres College NSS Unit takes up service project in Antara Village, Belthangady Tq

Mangaluru: Milagres College National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, in association with the Government First Grade College, Kavoor, Mangalore and other organizations like Lions International Highland, Lions International Alangar, Youth Red cross, rendered remarkable service to the flood victims of Antara Village, Belthangady Taluk on September 1, 2019. A group of 34 volunteers along with Mr. Cassin Rodrigues, Vice Principal & lions Alangar President, Assistant NSS Program Officer Ms. Princita J DSouza, Mr. Raison and Mr. Joel Harry, Support Staff rendered a day’s service to the affected people.

The volunteers cleared the silt accumulated in the areca and coconut farm of Mr. Chandayya Gowda, Mrs. Surayya and Mr. Ugappa Moolya. The entire service camp was assisted by a villager Mr. Manju Thomas. This service provided experiential education where learning occurs through a cycle of action. Exposure through camps like these, provide a sense of belonging to the students; it makes them feel a part of the community and provides them a sense of social responsibility
