Mega blood donation camp at MITE

A ‘Mega blood donation camp’ was jointly organized by Mite Youth Red Cross (MYRC) and Lions Club International on 13th of April at Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering, Moodbidri. Dr. Srikanth Rai, Consultant Anesthetist, Tejaswini Hospital, Mangalore inaugurated the camp and stressed on the importance of blood donation in fulfilling social responsibilities of individuals. Mr. Ronald Gomes, Vice District Governor, Dist. 317 D, Lions International graced the occasion as guest of honor and threw light on the fact that a blood donor can save up to 500 lives in his life time, if he donates blood at least once in three months.

Dr. G L Easwara Prasad, Principal presided over the inaugural program. Prof. Glenson Tony welcomed the dignitaries and Prof. Rueben D’Souza, Convener, MYRC proposed vote of thanks. Lion Nagesh Kumar, who is well known for organizing over 200 blood donation camps, Ln. Harish Alva and Ln. Chandrahasa Rai were present during the event. Staff and volunteers from Tejaswini, KMC, Wenlock Hospitals & Red Cross Society Blood Bank, Mangalore and MITE Youth Red Cross enthusiastically offered their services in the successful conduction of the camp. A total of 325 students and staff members of MITE actively took part in the camp and donated their blood. Mr. Rajesh Chowta, Chairman, MITE has marked his appreciation for all the blood donors and volunteers of MITE Youth Red Cross.
