Mangaluru: “Yoga is a supplement for a person’s all-round progress. By practising Yoga, an individual can achieve the seemingly impossible and bring happiness, peace and prosperity to life, making it more meaningful to live,” said Yoga teacher Prajna, while inaugurating ‘Yoga Day’organised by Lourdes Central School, Mangaluru, on Friday, June 21.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza said, “Yoga is important for an individual to live a healthy life. In addition to revealing our physical capacity, Yoga also enables effective growth. The students, by practicing Yoga, can become healthier and also enhance their knowledge level.” He also urged the students to make it a habit to practise Yoga. Vice-Principal Belita Mascarenas was also present on the stage.
Students were taught various Yoga postures and Pranayamas, including ‘Vajrasana’, different ‘Mudras’, ‘Chandranuloma’, ‘Suryanuloma’, ‘Nadishodana Pranayama’, ‘Tadasana’, ‘Vrakshasana’, ‘Trikonasana’ and ‘Shavasana’, during the event. Yoga was taught to students of all the classes.
The Physical Training teachers conducted the programme with the cooperation of teacher Gowri. Ankitha Pai welcomed the gathering. Noureen Sheikh explained the significance of Yoga Day. Prajna K P compered the programme and Pranamya Decchamma proposed a vote of thanks.
