Mangaluru: Birth Anniversary of the dreamer of new India and architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B R Ambedkar, was celebrates at the Lourdes Central School on April 14.
In his presidential address, Principal of the school Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza said “Constitution of India is the highest and respected law of the land. It protects the rights of the individuals and gives equal status to all citizens. By adding duties to the fundamental rights, it reminds us of our responsibilities. Today, some individuals mislead the public by giving statements that demean this sacred book. We should be alert of such instances. Students should take up the responsibility of protecting rights of the poor and the downtrodden. Only when there is peace and prosperity for all the day’s celebrations will be meaningful.”
Sonali Umanath explained the significance of the day to the audience, whereas, V. Mathew spoke on the life and achievements of Dr. Ambedkar.
Vice Principal Belita Mascarenhas was the present on the dais. Teachers of social studies Vidya Joseph, Gauri Ravi, Laveena Castelino, Rekha Naveen, Laveena Serrao, Fr. Joe Alphonso helped to organise the programme.
