Mangaluru: All the employed must pay their taxes on time and contribute to the development of India, said Chartered Accountant Vandana Kini during the “GST and its Applications” lecture organised by the Human Resource Development Club of Alva’s College.
She informed the attendees regarding the procedure of paying taxes, Income Tax Act, Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and so on.
Ashok Rao, Chartered Accountant from Kinnigoli said that GST has subsumed the complex indirect tax system in India. Before GST, there were many different taxes like central excise, customs duties, VAT, entertainment tax etc. These taxes were imposed differently by the various governments. GST has helped to consolidate all the indirect taxes into one, he opined.
