Mangaluru: ‘Lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony’ of 18th batch of GNM & 16th batch of B.Sc Nursing students was held on 5th December 2019, at the college auditorium. Mrs. Sharlet D,Souza Asso. Profesor, child health Nursing welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Nishel Barboza Asst. Professor, Medical surgical nursing explained the significance of the day.
One hundred thirty-three student nurses received the light from Sr. Dhanya Devasia, the principal, Sr. Janet D’Souza, CNO Fr. Muller’s Medical College Hospital, Mangalore, Dr. Sr. Alphonsa Ancheril, Vice Principal, Winnie Crasta, the Nursing Supt. of Athena hospital, Sunitha D Souza, Asso professor and HOD of Community health nursing and Genevieve Serrao, faculty Fundamentals of Nursing followed by oath-taking to practice the profession with responsibility.
The occasion was graced by dignitaries on the Dias R. S Shettian the Chairman, Sr. Janet D’Souza, CNO Fr. Muller’s Medical College Hospital, Mangalore – the chief guest, Asha Shettian the secretary, Sr. Dhanya Devasia, the principal, Dr. Sr. Alphonsa Ancheril, Vice Principal and Mrs. Winnie Crasta, the Nursing Supt of Athena hospital.
The chief guest Sr. Janet D’Souza advised the students to care for their patients with a good attitude and explained the expanded meaning of a nurse. She also stressed the importance of living the pledge of nurses in reality. Mrs. Melita, Lewis and Edna Lavita Asst. Lecturers of Medical surgical Nursing department compered the programme.
