Kanachur College hosts ‘Mangalore Physiocon 2018-Pre Conference’

Mangaluru: Kanachur College of Physiotherapy, a constituent college under Kanachur Islamic Education Trust (R) hosted the pre-conference on January 16 which is a part of Mangalore Physiocon 2018, an international Physiotherapy Conference at Kanachur at Kanachur auditorium. The programme was held in association with South Canara Physiotherapy Teacher’s Association.

Dr. Suhail Khan, Principal, Kanachur College of Physiotherapy welcomed the illustrious dignitaries, faculties and delegates.

The pre-conference was formally inaugurated by Dr. K R Kamath, President, IMA, Mangalore Chapter. In his address, Dr. Kamath mentioned the importance of Physical Therapy in the rehabilitation ground of the patients, post trauma and ortho surgery. He mentioned that Kanachur hospital had the best infrastructure and lauded Chairman Haji U K Monu for this contribution to healthcare and medical education.

The guest of honour Dr. A M Khan, Registrar (Evaluation) Mangalore University, in his address, specified the active role of Physical Therapy into one’s life and the importance of movement. He wished the delegates a pleasant learning.

The highlight of the event was the resource person, Dr. Ali Irani, Chief Physiotherapist, Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai and former physiotherapist, Indian Cricket team. Dr. Ali, humbly and formidably put in facts that there were therapies that give instant results and that the patient benefit was to the maximum. He emphasised that the present day issues were mostly related to the spine and chamatkar (magic) was possible. He said that Haji Monu was his good friend and wished him all the best for his “amazing” venture.

Dr. U T Iftikar, Senate member, RGUHS and Organising Chairman, Mangalore Physiocon 2018 graced the event. He joyfully mentioned that this task of putting the conference together was possible only because of the participation of all the colleges and their faculty and students. He profusely thanked Haji U K Monu for his thought into promoting physiotherapy into education and practice. This field of practice has benefitted millions and is the need of the hour, he added.

Haji U K Monu, in his presidential address, mentioned that he had visited Dr. Ali’s unit at Nanavathi and was amazed to see the professionalism in the care to his elite group of patients. He told the delegates that they should actively learn and participate into these activities and make themselves a fine healthcare provider.

Dr. Virupaksha, Dean, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Sreesha Khandige, Associate Dean, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Deviprasad Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre and Dr. Rohan Monis, Chief Administrative Officer, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre were present on the dais.

Dr. Droma compered the event. Dr. Reshma proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Shova and Dr. Nazriya were present at the event.

More than 200 delegates participated in the event held at the Kanachur Auditorium, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre.

After the inaugural event, Dr. Ali Irani got the delegates into his learning manifold sports injuries and different techniques for pain management.
