International Women’s Day celebrated at Dr. TMA PAI Auditorium, Manipal

Manipal: This year is an important year for Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Academy of General Education (AGE) as they are celebrating their Silver and Platinum Jubilees respectively.

As a part of this celebration, MAHE is hosting a one-day International Women’s Day Conference on March 8, aimed at empowering women through the lens of education, leadership development and social justice. The theme of the conference is “Empowering Women to Positively Impact the World.”

This conference will be a perfect platform where every participant can gather the skill sets that will equip her to forge into the world by making it more inclusive and gender equal. The conference will have renowned experts and serve as a platform to identify promising pathways for inclusive growth and innovative partnerships to work on women’s empowerment.

Behind every successful man is a woman. This celebration is to commemorate Late Sharada Madhava Pai, W/O Dr. T M A Pai (Founder of MAHE & AGE), who was his backbone. The celebrations will be led by Vasanti R Pai, who firmly believes that there is a transition in the society regarding priority for a girl child in the family and positive attitude to help her attain a bright future. c

During this programme, MAHE will be releasing a website for Team Women MAHE, Manipal basically for opening a corpus fund to educate and cater to the health needs of a girl child and also plans to have a separate endowment fund in memory of Late Sharada Madhava Pai for student research activities.

Deputy Director General of ICMR, Division of Women and Child Health , Dr. Anju Sinha, will be the chief guest for the inaugural session. Guests from various sectors like Revathi Kasturi, Chief Executive Officer, LAQSH Job skills Academy; Prasanna Paniker, former GM, Andhra Bank; Shweta Pai, Vice President, Sales, Zee Entertainment Enterprises; Shubhashini Vasanth, Founder, Vasanthakrishna Foundation for Arts; Prathiba Sudhir, CISCO, Business Operations and Partner Manager and Allen Pereira, retired chairman, Bank of Maharastra will be the participants at the celebration.

At the end of the day, Savitha Shenoy, Corporate trainer on the topic “FEMPOWER”, will be conducting a workshop on motivation using NLP and fun activities for all the participants of the celebration. To encourage women’s empowerment, two big associations have come forward to support International Women’s Day i.e., Syndicate Bank, Manipal and MEMG International (India) Pvt. Ltd., Bangaluru.
