Mangaluru: Centre for Environmental Studies, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) observed World Environment Day by organizing a quiz competition to students with an aim to inculcate a spirit of environmental awareness and distributed prizes to the winning students.
Saplings of Annona reticulata (Custard apple) and Myristica malabarica (wild nutmeg) were planted in the campus by the faculty of Environment centre and Dept. of Community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College.
A guest lecture by Dr. T S Channesh, Director, Centre for Public Understanding of Science, Bengaluru, on ‘Framing the modern context of our Environment: Learning and Teaching’ was organized on the occasion.
Dr. Abhay Nirgude, Professor and Head, Dept. of Community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College and Dr. S M Shivaprakash, Professor and Head, Dept. of Fisheries Resources and Management, College of Fisheries, Mangaluru graced the occasion.
The programmes were coordinated by Dr. Bhagya B Sharma, Assistant Director, Centre for Environmental Studies.
