Mangaluru: The AICS Throw Ball Tournament 2019, organized by the St. Agnes CBSE School on 19th October 2019 Bendore, Mangaluru at the St. Agnes College Grounds proved to be a memorable day for Agnesian. A total of 32 schools from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada participated in the tournament.
The weather conditions indicated a promising event. The day began with a stately welcome of the dignitaries by the school band followed by the top brass of the school. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Shantharama, Inspector, Kadri Police Station. The Guests of Honour were Dr. John Pinto, Director of Physical Education, GFGC Kavoor, Mangaluru, Dr. Sr. Maria Roopa A.C, the Joint Secretary, St. Agnes Institutions and Sr. Carmel Rita A.C, Administrator, St. Agnes College (Autonomous). The prayer song and welcome dance was a synergy of students and teachers. Mr. Shantaraman, in his address note, encouraged students to play with team spirit irrespective of the outcome. The opening of the tournament by the luminaries gave a fitting start to the event. The throwball display was a wonderful spectacle of coordination and a true sportsman spirit that set the mood for the participants. The Valedictory function was graced by the Chairman of MCC Bank, Mr. Anil Lobo and the National Level Referee, Mr. Balakrishna.
There was tough competition among all the teams but as it is rightly said ‘There is only one winner’. The following teams were triumphant at the tournament –
Winners Trophy: Bantwal Raghurama Mukunda Prabhu Centenary Public School
Runner Up Trophy: Vidhyavardaka English Medium School, Shirva
3rd Place: Canara High School, Dongarakery
4th Place: St. Agnes CBSE School, Bendore
The day was historic for all Agnesians as it saw the presence of top-level officials in the field of sports and other well-known personalities. The host school wishes all the participating teams the very best for the next year.
