Mangaluru: St. Aloysius Evening PU College celebrated its 51st College Day on December 12. The evening college is attended by economically deprived students who work during the day to make ends meet for their families and study in the evening with a hope of having a better future.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Elvira Philomina, President of the Dakshina Kannada PU Principals’ Association and Principal of Government PU College, Car Street, Mangaluru applauded the efforts of the students, the management and the staff for their dedication. She also stated that it is the only evening PU College in Dakshina Kannada.
President of the function, Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz SJ, Rector of the St. Aloysius Institutions, in his address to the gathering said that the college carried the ethos of the Society of Jesus and that St. Aloysius College had given to the society the education it needed.
Principal Rev. Fr. Melwin Mendonca SJ presented the annual report that featured the year round activities of the college. Outstanding students were honoured for their achievements. Among the cultural programmes, the highlight was the play on mother’s love and sacrifice, “Ammana 8 Sullugalu”, put up by the students of the college. Gracing the dais were the dignitaries Rev. Fr. John Lang Bosco SJ, Finance Officer; Dr. Pradeep M, Coordinator of the College and Paul D’Souza, the convener of the College Day.
