Mumbai: Reliance Industries Limited chairperson and billionaire Mukesh Ambani is now the fifth richest person in the world, according to the Billionaires List by Forbes business magazine.
The 63-year-old RIL chairperson overtook investor Warren Buffett to reach the fifth place on Forbes’ real-time ranking. Ambani’s net worth has been estimated to be $74.6 billion as on Wednesday, July 22.
Next to Ambani on the list is Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, whose net worth is estimated to be $89 billion.
This development comes after RIL’s Jio Platforms got more than $15 billion in investments from Facebook Inc, Silver Lake and some others.
The business tycoon on July 14, surpassed Alphabet (Google’s parent company) co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page to become the sixth richest person in the world.
