Vijayapura farmer ends life; hold govt responsible for his death

Vijayapura: In tragic incident, a debt-ridden farmer ended life at Sindhagi of Vijayapura. However, the twist in the story is his death note in which the deceased farmer- 43-year-old Santhosh Kulkarni has clearly mentioned that government is responsible for his death.

Kulkarni had grown sugarcane and pomegranate in his seven acre land. When the crop failed, dejected Kulkarni resorted to talking this extreme step because he could not find means to repay the loans-bank loan of Rs seven lakh and another Rs five lakh borrowed from money lenders.

In the death note, the farmers makes mention about the details of the money-lenders and the loan amount due to them and states that the debts and the government are responsible for his death.

“I am sorry, I quit,” is what the farmer has scribbled on the edge of the death note.
