Vijayapura: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hit headlines for responding to letters and requests from people. However, here in Vijayapura, a poor family awaiting to get a pukka roof over their head did not have enough time to even know if the PM would ever reply to their letter or not.

A house at Matapathigalli had collapsed on Sunday morning claiming three lives. Unfortunately, the poor family had poured their feelings in a letter to PM Modi recently as they sought the PM’s help to get funds to build a house.

The deceased are Ashok Gaudennavar (46), his wife Shakunthala (40) and their son Chandrashekar (5).

Three others- Ashok’s sister Rajashree and his two older sons Ranjith and Ajith escaped the mishap unhurt.

The three had slept in the kitchen of the house when the ceiling of the kitchen collapsed smothering the three. The three survivors had slept in the other room. On hearing the noise, Rajashree, Ranjith and Ajith had rushed to the kitchen, but they could not do anything as the kitchen doors were closed. The neighbours who reached the spot, then pulled out the three and rushed them to a local hospital, but the doctors had declared them brought dead.

Dejected by their plight, the Gaudennavar family had shot a letter to the PM only three days ago sseeking his help to government funds to build a pukka house. But, even before something could work out, three from the family have met their tragic end!

Tahshildar N M Baligar has announced compensation to the family.
