Vijaypur: Former home minister and senior Congress leader M B Patil has been selected for the “Paryavaran Rakshak – 2019” award.
The award is presented by Tarun Bharat Sangh, Rajasthan, every year, recognizing people from all over the country, who have served to protect the environment.
M B Patil is being awarded for his effective environmental schemes and policies during his tenure as state water resource minister in the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government. His initiative to fill ponds and lakes and the planting of around 60,000 saplings on a total of 500 acres of land in Bhutnal, on the outskirts of Vijayapur district, has made him worthy of receiving the award.
Patil will be presented with the award by Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, on January 15 at Rajasthan’s Tarun Bharat Sangh ashram.
