Bijapur: With the country facing possible threat of a third wave of Covid pandemic which is expected to spread of Delta Plus, a new variant of Covid virus, the government has made modification in the protocols for the people wishing to come to Karnataka from Maharashtra.

Earlier, the government had directed people to bring Covid negative reports, but now in the norms, they have been asked to prove that they have taken both doses of the vaccine.

“If the person has taken the vaccine and doesn’t have any symptoms of coronavirus, such person will be allowed to enter Karnataka,” claimed the guidelines released by the district administration.

“However, if the person has taken the vaccine but has symptoms, they will be made to go under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). If the result comes negative then the samples will be collected for the RT-PCR test and also their residential address and then permitted to travel with ordering to be in home quarantine until reports are announced. If the traveler tests positive in RAT – triaging will be done and further actions will be taken as per the protocols.”

“Even the same protocols will be followed for the local residents in order to permit them to travel to Maharashtra. These rules will be in place until the further orders. Even a mobile testing Covid-19 testing center will be set-up at the interstate borders,” revealed the district administration.

The district administration has set-up two interstate check posts – one in Dhulkhed and another in Shiradona. The health professionals, staff of different departments including the police department have been deployed at the check posts.

Speaking to Express, DC P Sunil Kumar said that, “In the wake of threat of third wave and delta plus variant of Covid – chief secretary had chaired video conference with the Deputy Commissioners of border districts – Bijapur, Belagavi, Bidar, Gulbarga and Bagalkot. The CS has directed to take necessary measures like vaccination for the beneficiaries in border areas, strengthening check posts and inspection at the interstate check posts.”

“A letter has also been written to the district administrations of Sangli and Solapur of Maharashtra, which shares a border with Karnataka, asking them to pace up the vaccine drive. Because the people living in the border areas on both sides will be dependent on each other and movement will also be high.”

“We have already put in enough men for the proper enforcement of guidelines. The vaccination drive in the villages located along the border has also been kick-started from Sunday,” stated DC Sunil Kumar.
