Vijayapura: After the announcement of the dates for the coming SSLC exams which are scheduled to begin from July 19, the preparations for the exams have intensified in the district by the Education Department.

Since the exam will be held in a new pattern where more objective type questions will be asked, the department is preparing the students for the exam through mock tests so that the students can understand the new pattern easily.

The government has already made it clear that owing to Covid pandemic, the SSLC exam will be there for only two days instead of the normal six days. The first day will have exams for core subjects such as Science, Math and Social Science and the second and last will have exams for language subjects. The exam will be held between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.

Since the question is to be answered in objective type which is a new question paper format for the students, the department of education has been conducting weekly preparatory tests for the students to help them understand the question paper type and secure more marks.

The mock tests are being conducted for all the school students including private and aided schools. The teachers of all the schools have been assigned to distribute question papers along with OMR sheets to the doorsteps of students.  The children have to answer the questions in the presence of the parents.

Narayan V Hosur, Deputy Director of DPI, said that preparatory tests are being conducted in order to help students to get an idea about the new pattern that has been setup for this year’s board exams.  In the mock tests the performance of the students will be evaluated. If the student has scored poorly in any of the subjects, they will be asked to work on the respective subject.

“We are also counselling the below average students. Even the videos of a few lessons of core subjects are also being sent through WhatsApp. For those who don’t have access to WhatsApp, printed notes are being given. Even the parents are being counselled in order to encourage their children to perform well in board exams. We hope that our district will be placed in better positions in this year’s board exams ”, he said.

According to the officials of DPI, a total of 38,101 students have been registered for SSLC board exams in the district. Of these 33,686 are freshers and 4,415 are repeaters. Among the total registered 21,806 are boys and 16,295 are girls. The exams will be conducted in 179 centres.
