RARS releases CSV-29 variety of Jawar for higher yield

 Vijayapura: The Regional Agriculture Research Station’s Jawar Development Department conducted a field trial of CSV-29, a new variety of Jawar on the farm in Honawad village.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Research Director, Ashok Sajjan said that the Rabi Jawar variety that has been introduced by the Station has been accepted by farmers in the State.

The varieties not only produce more grains but also produce higher fodder for the cattle. Having higher protein content, the varieties, more farmers should start cultivating these varieties for higher earning.

In his address, assistant extension director, R. B. Belli said that the CSV-29 variety has been cultivated by many farmers under the organic farming system. The farmers can earn more profit by cultivating these varieties.

Chief Scientist, M.S. Shirahatti said that the soil of the Honawad area requires more water conservation methods which helps in reaping the good harvest in Kharif season.

Head of Jawar Department, Gouramma Sajjan explained the salient features of the new variety and how the value of the crop can be increased.

Nachiket Hiremath, Mallikarjun Yecchinavar, S. S. Karabhantnal, and several progressive farmers were present.
