Vijayapura: Alleging that the democracy has been destroyed and ruined during the BJP government in the country, Abdul Latif, National Committee Member of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has said that the BJP government has been constantly targeting every person who criticized the BJP.

Addressing presspersons on Friday, he said that filing of false cases against those who are critical of the Modi government has become a habit of the BJP.

Since 2014 when the BJP government came to power at the centre, it has booked hundreds of people under tough acts such as sedition and UAPA against those who have been opposing the policies of the Modi government.

“ The BJP government cannot tolerate any  form of criticism, which is why it has been booking cases against even the noted activists such as Stan Swamy who died in prison after he was booked under UAPA. The court rejected bail plea even on health grounds as Swamy was suffering from various ailments at the age of 84”, he said.

In his address, Afsar Kodlipete, State General Secretary  has accused the  State Government of yielding to the pressure of private school management on the issue of fees.

He said that despite the High Court ordering the private school management to adhere to the government order on fees, the private school managements are not listening to the order.

In such a situation, the government should have taken action against the erring school managements, but since the government has yielded to the pressure of the managements, it is desisting from taking any action.

Admitting that the private school management are facing a financial crunch due to Covid, he however said that the government pays a minimum salary to private school staff for a few days.

Stating that over 24% students of the State do not have smart phones for participating in online classes, he said that many villages still do not have proper mobile phone network connectivity.

While this is the reality, how the government expects to provide online education to the students, he asked.

Akram Hasan, State Media In-charge  said that the BJP government has been putting heavy financial burden on the common people by increasing prices of fuel and LPG.

Alleging that the BJP is helping the Corporate Houses by waiving off their loans, he said that the government is collecting more money from common people.

The government should impose higher tax on rich people and use it to help poor people, but during the BJP government, it has become otherwise.

“ The BJP government is waiving loans of corporate houses and imposing heavy taxes on poor people”, he said.

District functionaries, Shafiq Kannur and Isaq Sayed were present.
