Vijaypura: Sahadeva Maruthi More, the 26-year-old brave soldier from Savalasanga village in Indi taluk in Vijayapura district who died fighting militants earlier this year, was posthumously awarded defence medal.
Sahadeva died after killing two militants in an encounter on February 13. His brother Shivaji received a call from defence officials confirming the award given to him posthumously.
The brave soldier had killed two out the 3 militants in a hideout at Kupwara. Sahadeva suffered bullet injuries on his head, shoulder and abdomen in return fire and eventually succumbed to death on the same day.
