Bijapur: A four-year old girl fell into a dry borewell at a farm at Nagathana village which is 20 kilometers from Bijapur district late on Tuesday evening at around 7.30 pm.
The girl has been identified as Akshata. Her parents’ Hanumantha and Savitri are laborers.
According to Hanumantha, his daughter was playing when the incident occurred in the farm where they live. He said that she was trying to run away from a dog when she fell into the pit.
At the time of the incident both the parents were engaged in work. Police said efforts were on to rescue the child.
Reportedly Akshata fell into a 50-feet borewell, which had been dug up years ago and is left uncovered in the farm.
The National Disaster Management team from Pune along with a team from Hatti gold has been involved in the rescue operations.
The condition of the girl is not yet ascertained.However a small camera has been sent inside the Pit and her movements are being checked.
Oxygen has been supplied to the girl. Dr Gudappad, the Health Officer has assured of taking all measures to rescue the girl. MB Patil,District in-charge minster also has given a word to save the child.
