District Minister Jolle Directs Officials To Prepare For 3rd Wave Of Covid

Vijayapura: With the possible third wave of Covid pandemic expected to affect children more, the District In-Charge Minister, Shashikala Jolle has directed the officials concerned to prepare for the possible pandemic.

Chairing the Covid preparatory meeting at the office of Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday, she said that besides all government hospitals, the administration should ensure that private hospitals too should have adequate facilities such as beds, oxygen and ventilators.

She asked them to constitute coordination committees to tackle the possible third wave of pandemic.

Informing that the district has three such children who have become orphans after losing their parent to Covid, Jolle asked the officials to keep track of the children and give possible help from the government. “Give facilities under the State government’s ‘Bal Seva’ Scheme meant for such children.”

“If any individual wishes to adopt such children, then as per the adoption procedures, ensure that the children get a parent who could take care of such children for their better future. Also cooperative with any NGOs who wish to take up responsibility for these children”, she said.

The district reported around 289 children who have lost either mother or father to Covid.

Jolle instructed the officials to set up Covid Care Centre for children. The Taluk and community hospitals should be ready to tackle the situation.

Deputy Commissioner, P. Sunil Kumar who was also present, informed about the Black Fungus cases being reported in the district and patients undergoing treatment. 

Earlier in the day, she visited the district government hospital to inspect the works of a multi-specialty hospital.

She said that while the first phase of works of the hospital are over, the second phase has started and she asked the contractor to complete the entire hospital work within the next 15 months.

“Because of some technical issues, the work was suspended, but now after taking the views of various experts and elected representatives, the work has resumed”, she said.

 MLAs, Yeshwantraigound Patil, Somanagoud Patil Sasnur, Devanand Chavan, MP, Ramesh Jigajinagi and others were present.
