Vijayapura: Continuing its agitation against the BJP government for unabatedly increasing the prices of fuel, LPG and essential commodities, the members of District Congress Committee took out bicycle rally from Siddeshwar temple to Ambedkar circle on Wednesday.

Several party workers had gathered at the temple on their cycles to participate in the rally to oppose the sharp increase in petrol and diesel prices which has reached Rs. 100/liter.

Carrying placards, the members shouted slogans against the Modi government for failing to control the prices of petrol in the country.

Speaking on the occasion at Ambedkar circle after riding bicycle as part of the protest, DCC president Raju Algur said that the BJP government which had promised to make petrol prices Rs. 35/liter, has increased to Rs. 100 per liter.

He said that the BJP has been lying to people and hoodwinking them on all issues including prices rise.

In his address, Congress leader, Abdul Hamid Mushrif said that by promising Acche Din, the BJP has given the worst days the people of India has ever seen.

“ We don’t want the Acche din of the BJP, we want our worst days of UPA government. The acche din have made the lives of people miserable”, he said.

Mushrif said that at the time of Covid pandemic when the government should have come to the rescue of common people by decreasing prices of petrol as people are facing acute financial problems due to prolonged lockdown, he said that the BJP government has been increasing the prices.

It is like rubbing slat on the wounds of the people by the Modi government, he charged.

He said that the Congress party will continue to hold different protest against the Modi government’s policies and will also try its best to help people who are suffering from Covid.

He said that the party has already visited several houses where the family members have died to Covid. During their visit, the party has not only tried to console the families but also offered food kits to poor people.
