Vijayapura: These plots are often seen in Bollywood flicks, but in a real life incident, precarious plot of a businessman to make a false insurance claim of Rs 30 crore lead to brutal killing of a 19-year-old labourer, in Vijayapura.

As per police, Amol Pawar and his brother Vinayak- wealthy businessmen murdered Ramesh Naik from Nagabenal village in Vijayapura, about a month ago.

The police said that Amol had insured himself with a private agency for Rs. 30 crore and following huge loss in business, the debt-ridden Amol, along with his brother, planned a conspiracy to claim the insurance money.

The plan was to stage Amol’s death and to materialise the plan they needed a youth who could be a ‘proxy’ to Amol.

The siblings befriended Ramesh, offered him better wage and got him working in Gandhinglaj town of Kolhapur district.

One day, the siblings killed Ramesh, mauled his face beyond recognition and placed personal documents of Amol on Ramesh’s body.

However, the insurance agency grew suspicious because the identification marks given by Amol while applying for insurance were missing.

Later, the agency called the police for investigation, which unearthed the conspiracy. The police have arrested the accused and investigation is under way.

As per Ramesh’s father the murder must have taken place on February 28.
