Bidar: Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha demanded that union minister V K Singh be sacked immediately for making derogatory comments against the Dalits in Haryana.

Speaking to the media, Kharge said, “Such statements by the BJP and RSS leaders expose heights of arrogance. The Faridabad incident was not only violation of human rights of the Dalits, but a heinous crime against humanity, which should be condemned by all. Mere apology is not enough” he said.

Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed in Bidar against union minister V K Singh for his remarks on the killing of Dalit children in Haryana.

Mohammad Irshad Ali, district youth Congress president, has filed a complaint and said, “He has insulted the Dalits by comparing them to dogs. Strict action should be taken against him,” Ali said.

Another complaint was registered by Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee with the High Grounds police, Bengaluru on Thursday. The group led by KPYCC president Rizwan Arshad, filed a complaint citing newspaper articles and urged them to take action for the insult to the Dalit community”.

While arguing that the government must not be blamed for the burning of two Dalit children in Haryana, Union Minister VK Singh had once again triggered a controversy by talking about a ‘dog being stoned’ and said, “It was a feud between the families….how it turned to something else… local administration failed, then only comes the government,” he said.

In an afterthought he stressed that the Centre must not be blamed for every incident. He added: “If someone throws stones at a dog, the government is held responsible…it does not happen that way.” Expectedly, the Opposition latched on to Singh’s remarks.

The children two-and-a-half year old Vaibhav and 11-month-old Divya died after their house was set on fire, allegedly by members of an upper caste community at a village in Haryana near Delhi, on Monday.
